I have been riding my bicycle into town several times each week in order to take care of various errands. Bicycle riding in town is very organized - consider, for example, the following intersection.
Here are some of the important features of this intersection:- Separate crossing lanes for bicycles and pedestrians
- A special traffic signal for cyclists
- A yellow light which blinks to alert right-turning cars that cyclists have a green light.
In town, many of the main streets have bike lanes. In other places, there is a bike lane on the sidewalk - the following sign indicates that pedestrians and bicyclists each have their own portion of the sidewalk.
In other places, there is no separate lane on the sidewalk for cyclists, who are reminded by the following sign to yield to pedestrians.
While we're on the topic of street signs, here is one which is not related to bicycling, but is a lot of fun nevertheless.

What does this last one mean - don't play in your driveway?
Indeed, it is not entirely clear. Perhaps "No soccer with Parent & Child in our neighborhood"?
There does also exist a version of this sign without the red stripe.
:)
Hmm...interesting indeed. Maybe it's just "beware of children at play" and "no need to beware of children at play"? Trying to think of what we have here that could be similar. The new chocolate shop looks like a great find, by the way! :)
