Introduction to Stockholm

I'm visiting Stockholm for the next two months. It is quite a nice city: It is easy to walk most places, the buildings are colorful and pleasant, the drivers always stop for pedestrians, and there are a large number of bakeries and coffee shops. Other things which first struck me about Stockholm is the large number of very nice (and often small) parks scattered about the city. Another is the popularity of Czech beer. Here is a typical street scene:

As in all European cities, there is the requisite Man-on-horse-with-sword. This one is located in Gamla Stan, the small island of the old city.

The city itself is located on several islands, each with it's own character. Here is the bridge between downtown and Gamla Stan.

Here is the view looking towards the Kungsholmen island from the southern island of Sodermalm.

I took a boat ride on Saturday - here is the view looking back towards "Downtown".
