Mark and Eric Visit II, Potsdam to Dresden

We took a short bike ride around Potsdam, starting with the nearby Schloss Sanssouci (the palace of Frederic the Great).

Iva was amused by the fact that she had "Nordic bodyguards", uniforms and all.

From there, they visited me at the institute, where we ran into Albert in the kitchen!

(There are actually a number of these cutouts scattered about the institute.)

From there we rode to the town of Werder, which is an old village located on an island just west of Potsdam.

We completed the bike ride by passing through Caputh, where Einstein had his summer home and kept his sailboat.

After visiting Berlin another time, where we stopped by the Turkish market for lunch, we took the train to Dresden. Here we are loading up in Berlin's main train station.

Dresden has a wonderfully preserved (and repaired) old town, and is well worth spending half a day exploring.

We left our luggage in the train station and wandered around for the afternoon before heading up into the hills of the Sachische Schweiz...
