Jasmund National Park

The original plan for Easter weekend was to spend the weekend bicycling around Rügen, but the weatherman (correctly) predicted snow. Thus we spent Saturday hiking in Jasmund National Park, located only a few blocks from our apartment.

The big attraction is a number of chalky cliffs. We also liked the pretty forest, especially as it provided shelter from the high winds and snow. Here is one nice section of the cliffs.

And a picture of Iva & Paul:

We hiked by a famous site in the park called Königsstuhl. From what we could understand (our hiking guidebook is in German!), from this site some Swedish King observed the Swedish fleet defeating the Danish fleet. Here is a movie taken from the "Victoria Sicht" overlook - notice the weather!
