Yachats Wedding

Upon returning to Oregon, we set out for the coastal town of Yachats in order to attend the wedding of some long-time friends. The drive took longer than expected due to an un-predicted snowstorm which caused a massive traffic jam. But we made it.

Yachats is a very cute town on the very beautiful Oregon coast. One feature of the coast is that it is always windy, and usually quite cool - even in the summer time. Notice the wind-sculpted tree in this picture of Iva and "the boys".
We took a nice walk along the coast just north of town. I like watching the waves crash on the rocks. Here is the Pacific on a calm day. We were fortunate to have excellent weather on the day of the wedding itself.
The groom. Looking sharp. As always.
There was a really personal, touching ceremony, after which we got to the most important part of the wedding: the cutting of the cake! Just joking of course, but there were amazing treats from Sweet Life, a dessert bakery in Eugene.
We spent the night after the wedding, enjoyed a fantastic breakfast (oatmeal with hazelnuts, almonds, & pomegranate), and headed back to Portland.

Can't believe we didn't run into you! We spent New Year's Eve weekend in Yachats and hiking around cape perpetua when the storm blew over. Glad you had a good time. We should grab a cuppa coffee (and a pastry OF COURSE) next time I'm in pdx!
