Christmas

Iva arrived mid-day on the 24th of December. We happily re-united at the Tegel airport and took the train back to Potsdam, where we celebrated Christmas eve with a nice pumpkin soup and a short walk through town. Since the evening of the 24th is when Christmas is celebrated here (rather than the 25th), things were pretty quiet.

The next morning we had a nice breakfast of an "advent torte", which I purchased at the local "Bio" (similar to organic) bakery. Here's a picture of our Christmas table. I opted for a wreath rather than a tree.

After breakfast we opened our presents & cards, and then took a walk through the park. Since the 25th and 26th are holidays here, there were lots of people strolling in the park, which was a lot of fun.

We walked by "Ruinberg" which is a fake Roman ruin build near the Sanssoucci palace - Frederick the Great thought it would be nice to be able to look out and see some ruins in the distance, so he had this built.
