Hiking on Mt. Townsend

Took a nice hike with some friends up Mt. Townsend, located in the NE Olympics near Quilcene. Supposedly there are wonderful views from the top; unfortunately we instead experienced a hailstorm on the summit and made a speedy descent back to the treeline. The wildflowers (pictured here) and blueberries were out in full force, however, and we were able to enjoy some beautiful subalpine meadows. Some home-made brownies helped as well. Definitely a place to re-visit, possibly combined with a night at nearby Silver Lake.
