We camped two nights on Glacier Spit, across Katchemak Bay from Homer and took a great day hike to the lateral moraine of Grewingk glacier (pictured here).
The icefield in the background was at one point connected to the Harding icefield, but is now a distinct component of the Harding complex, a large remnant from the most recent ice age. One exciting aspect of this hike is the hand-powered tram used to cross Grewingk Creek - not for the faint of heart or those with tired arms!
