Math Research Community, Snowbird, UT

The week following our California excursion was spent in Snowbird, UT participating in the Math Research Community program 'Mathematical Challenges of Relativity'. This program, put on by the American Math Society, is designed to gather young mathematicians who all work in a certain field so that they can network and discuss problems together.

We had a wonderful time, working (literally) from dawn to dusk - Iva's group even had a couple of night sessions! The group was very good - energetic, talented, and remarkably social. It helped that there was a "hospitality suite" where we could gather (with beverages to be purchased) in the evenings.

We had one afternoon off during which we all went hiking, though it rained quite heavily... There was a lot of snow on the ground, but the scenery was still gorgeous and the company excellent.

Update: Here is Iva and another mathematician hiking in the beautiful Utah mountains...
