Hiking: Devil's Dream

Spent a night at Devil's Dream campsite on the southeast corner of Mt. Rainier National Park. A lovely spot nestled in a nice, cool forest. But the best part is the east access to Indian Henry's Hunting Ground views of a side of the mountain not often seen by dwellers to the north. The park ranger stationed here has some nice digs (pictured here).

We had brought our dinner along and hiked another mile or so to the small, aptly-named Mirror Lake. Here we cooked dinner and watched the sunset. Worth the two-mile hike back in the dark?

The trip concluded with a well-deserved milkshake stop at Scale Burger in Elbe. Thanks to C&J for alerting me to the existence of this fine (and delicious) establishment.

I think it was worth the hike back in the dark. The stars were amazing! My pulled hip flexor is trying to tell me that 16 miles in 2 days wasn't worth it, but I'll let you know in a couple days when he quiets down. :)
