Mostar is a very interesting, and historic, town. During the recent conflicts it became 'famous' when the old bridge in the center of town was destroyed. The bridge, and some of the old town, has been rebuilt and the place is now 'on the map' for tourists. That said, it is a very cute town with a fairly authentic old 'bas casija' (someone please correct the spelling of that!).
Compared with other places in ex-Yugoslavia which are still damaged from the 90's conflicts, Mostar is the closest to resembling modern-day Beirut, as the buildings which are damaged are of an old, classy architecture.
